/About Ball Elementary School / Kindergarten Academy
Kindergarten Academy
Ball Elementary began its “Kindergarten Academy” program in 2017 which pairs 13 to 15 community members with the school’s youngest readers to provide reading support. The community volunteers include retired teachers, parents, and grandparents who desire to make a difference in a child’s life.
Reading Interventionist, Joann Vose, directs Ball Elementary’s Kindergarten Academy. She spends time creating lesson plans and instructions for her volunteers. She also coordinates volunteer days and times using SignUp.com. Volunteers are slated each week between the hours of 8 -11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, for one-hour increments. Volunteers generally work with 1-2 students for 20-minute sessions.
Volunteers Always Needed
The school is always looking for volunteers, and a short training session is provided on what activities, and materials they will use while working with the children. Also, reading interventionists are available to answer questions and provide additional help with activities if needed. Contact the school at 483-2414 for more information.
