Office of the Superintendent

Dear Titan Families,

The Holiday Season is upon us, and we all have a great deal celebrate and to be grateful for at Ball-Chatham.  Each year there are successes and challenges that we share as a school community, and this year is no exception.  Our students have excelled in Academics, the Arts, and Athletics. Congratulations to our GHS student musicians who were named to the ILMEA District 4 Ensembles for 2019.  Over 30 student musicians received ILMEA recognition! In addition to the musical accomplishments of our students, Glenwood High School seniors, Allorah Garner and Kaitlyn Hayes have been recognized and selected for the 2019 National Juried High School Art Competition and Exhibition at Purdue Galleries.

We are pleased to announce that the most recent assessment data for Illinois schools is out, and Ball-Chatham has received Commendable ratings for all six of our schools.  We will be further analyzing the data we have received from ISBE, in coordination with our local MAP assessment data. The information gathered from these data sources will be used to further develop instructional plans at each school.  A comprehensive report will be developed and shared with our school community.

We have had a great deal of success in the area of athletics and team competition.  The Glenwood Middle School Softball team, and the Girls Cross Country team brought home State Championships this fall!! Truly amazing accomplishments!  Not many schools have capture two state championships in a single season!

Glenwood High School has several teams that have captured, or are currently vying for Conference, Regional, Sectional, and potentially State Championships.  Good luck to the Cross-Country, Volleyball, Football, Boys Soccer, and the Girls Swim team this coming weekend. Go Titans!

Thank you for attending the Parent/Teacher conferences last Thursday evening and Friday morning.  The conferences were well attended, and we appreciate the opportunity to work with you and your child to make their educational experience the best it can be.

In closing, I would like to thank all of our Veterans for their service to our county.  In honor of our Veterans, we will be honoring and celebrating all service men and women throughout the district on Friday, November 8, 2019.  Remembrance ceremonies will be held throughout the day. Veterans and current military members will be honored with patriotic songs, written tributes, and original artwork by students.

With Titan Pride,

Supt. Dr. Douglas Wood
