The Ball-Chatham Board of Education met for its regularly scheduled meeting at the District Office in Chatham, Il on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023
The following is a summation of the items discussed and those that were approved, as well as links to those items in the Board packet.
COMMUNICATIONS
GMS Vocational Classroom
Christine Lehnen, GMS Principal, shared about the great things happening in the GMS Vocational Classroom, which was created to give students the skills they need to be successful, independent, and employable. Mrs. Bostrom attended along with a current student who passed out products made as part of the vocational program. Principal Lehnen’s report can be found here.
Facilities Update
Mike Dobbs, Facilities and Grounds Director, presented an update on current projects, which is available here. Information covered included the track replacement, vocational classroom, security audit, and next steps.
Field of Excellence Recognition
The board acknowledged that the GHS football field was featured in the Pioneer Athletics 2023 Calendar for the month of March.
Annual Evaluations
Superintendent Lamon provided an overview of the evaluation process for Principals, Assistant Principals, and Directors and shared about changes that will make the process more collaborative and effective. Dr. Lamon’s presentation is online for public review.

NEW BUSINESS
It was recommended that the board approve a 99-year Lease for GMS property. The related documents for lake tract 1 and lake tract 2 are available for review. This motion passed unanimously with a 6-0 vote.
