GHS First Semester Details

We are excited to welcome our students back to school for the 2020-2021 school year. Although this year may look different, the staff at Glenwood High School is excited to begin this new adventure. We are heartbroken that we don’t get to see your smiling faces in person every day. That being said...we are Titans; and Titans overcome impossible challenges with strength, dignity, and grace.

Our teachers, counselors, and other staff members have been working hard to prepare the best possible schedule and learning opportunities for all of our students. Attached to this letter, you will find the GHS Return to Learn: Distance Learning Expectations and Information sheet. Please read through these documents carefully and know that families are encouraged to reach out to building administration with any and all questions or concerns. While these documents contain all pertinent information, I would like to highlight a few key details below.

  • Student schedules will be available for viewing Monday, August 24th @ 4:00 PM.

  • All students will have a designated time to come to the high school to meet teachers and collect supplies. The schedule and proper safety protocols are located both here and in the GHS Return to Learn: Distance Learning Expectations and Information Sheet.

  • Students will be divided by grade level and AM or PM placement. Each group will have a 3 hour time slot to pick up supplies.

  • Each student will walk his or her schedule, visit the classroom and teacher, pick up supplies, and ask any clarifying questions. This process should take approximately 20 minutes.

  • This will NOT take the entire 3 hour time slot. You are free to come at any point during the 3 hour period.

Supplies/Materials Pickup Schedule

  • 8/25 - 7:45-10:45 a.m. (Freshmen AM students); and 12:00-3:00 p.m. - (Freshmen PM students)

  • 8/26 - 7:45-10:45 a.m. (Sophomore AM students); and 12:00-3:00 p.m. - (Sophomore PM students)

  • 8/27 - 7:45-10:45 a.m. (Junior AM students); and 12:00-3:00 p.m. (Junior PM students)

  • 8/28 - 7:45-10:45 a.m. (Senior AM students); and 12:00-3:00 p.m. (Senior PM students)

GHS will continue with the AM/PM schedule communicated earlier in the summer.

Teachers will be communicating with all students on 8/28 with important information in regards to the first full day of Distance Learning.

The first full day of Distance learning will be on 8/31. All students please check emails for important info on 8/28.

Students will be expected to virtually attend all assigned classes beginning on 8/31. Attendance will be taken.

Tutoring and additional supports will be accessible by all GHS students. Students may be helped virtually or invited into the school to receive one-on-one support/tutoring by a teacher. Students may also request those supports from teachers. Safety screening and protocol will be implemented.

Our counselors and support staff will be checking in with the social and emotional needs of our students and providing support wherever needed.

Please make sure you carefully read the GHS Return to Learn: Distance Learning Expectations and Information sheets. These documents will help clarify any questions you may have and paint a clear picture of what our school week will look like.

We want our students to know how much we miss them, and that we are excited to see (even if it is virtual) them on August 31st.
