GIS Art Club Students Help Paint Transportation Hub Mural
Glenwood Intermediate School is so fortunate that eight of its sixth grade Art Club students had the opportunity to participate in creating history on May 5. Students first attended a 30 minute session at Lincoln Magnet School in Springfield to learn about the strategic plan behind one of the murals being displayed at the Springfield-Sangamon Transportation Depot downtown. Students then painted on several organized and numbered pieces of fabric together, amongst many other students from other schools around Sangamon County. The mural will be installed at the Transportation Hub later this year. Those from GIS who participated include: Aleena Kashif, Allison Nordyke, Joyce Lee, Lillie Lee, Reese Robinson, Rome Wiggins, Rylie Ridley, and Valerie Long.
GIS students are pictured here, taking part and having pride with being involved in something much larger than themselves.
