March 31, 2020 Message from Supt. Dr. Wood
Dear Titan Families,
As anticipated, the Governor has extended the closure of schools through April 30th due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is something that we are prepared to handle. Your response to these first couple of weeks has been nothing short of remarkable. I understand this announcement may slightly increase everyone’s anxiety level. But I try to remember that while we are not able to control the situation we find ourselves in, we can control our own responses to it.
We have been able to feed our students, provide access to devices, and have launched our Remote Learning plan. We understand that this looks and feels much different, and that’s okay. We will have many successes, as well as challenges. We understand this, and will strive to meet the needs of all of our students.
I know that there are questions about events such as Prom, Graduation, and other spring events. I do not intend to cancel events. Our goal will be to adjust dates, times and venues, as best we can, given the circumstances. We also know that proclamations and guidance provided by Governor Pritzker’s office, or by the Illinois State Board of Education can impact these decisions.
Thank you for your patience and support as we all work through the COVID-19 Pandemic. I am hopeful that our successes will increase and our challenges will lessen as we navigate this new uncharted territory. As previously stated, this is a new experience for us all, and together as Titan Nation, we will succeed.
There will be additional updates and communication in the coming days.
Supt. Dr. Douglas Wood
