Free School Meals for ALL Ball-Chatham Students Through the End of May!
Pick up a meal and make your lunch ladies' day!
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has implemented flexibilities related to School Nutrition Programs that will allow the Ball-Chatham School District to provide complete meals to all students at no charge. This flexibility has been extended to the end of the school year in May.
This applies to all students regardless of whether they are learning in-person, virtually, or are homeschooled but live in Ball-Chatham’s boundaries.
This benefit is available for ALL students, regardless of income. However, this benefit does NOT apply to a la carte purchases so households are still responsible for any of those purchases.
Extra items are periodically added to meals to ensure students are getting enough food.
Household participation helps maintain and even grow the program for the entire district so we encourage every student to participate.
As a reminder, in-person and virtual learning students at our schools have access to two meals per day that students are in attendance. The AM session students are allowed to select a breakfast meal (entree, fruit, and milk) for eating in the classroom, and they can select a sack lunch (entree, fruits and/or vegetables, and milk) to take home at dismissal. The PM students are allowed to select a lunch meal for eating in the classroom, and they can select a sack breakfast to take home at dismissal. Families in the virtual learning option are able to pick up at their school, curbside.
Your participation in any meal program remains completely optional.
Monthly menus can be found on the District's website at: https://www.chathamschools.org/menus.
