Welcome Zach Baliva, Director of Communications

Zach Baliva

Zach Baliva was named Director of Communications at the Ball-Chatham Board of Education’s meeting on November 30, 2022, and officially began his duties on December 5. Zach had previously served as a staff writer and freelance journalist for Guerrero Media. He also served as a Multi-Media Producer for Memorial Health System from 2015-19.

Additionally, Zach is a self-employed producer and director whose most recent film, “Potentially Dangerous,” was executive produced by John Turturro and won the 2021 Russo Bros. Film Forum from Hollywood directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Endgame, The Gray Man).

Zach is a Glenwood alum, Class of 1999, who was active in track, cross country, and GCNN. After graduation, he went on to study film/video production at Columbia College. He graduated, with honors, in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Video Production.

He began his career in Hollywood working for the directors and producers of the hit TV show, ER. He then left to produce his own narrative films and award-winning documentaries with a passion for storytelling. “Now, I’d like to help tell the story of the Ball-Chatham School District,” he says.

He is married to Naomi, and they have a son Anthony. On his own time, he enjoys running, studying Italian, watching most Chicago sports teams, and helping to raise the family’s new goldendoodle puppy.
