𝗜𝗦𝗕𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹

Elijah Smith, Mahi Chanpura, Madalyn Hilligoss and Maryam Hafiz from GHS have been selected to serve as members of the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council for the 2026-27 school year!

Throughout the year, SAC members will meet virtually with ISBE staff and stakeholders to provide student perspective and contribute to the development of education policy.

SAC members will also participate in activities such as the Student Summit and present their research project to the Board of Education in spring of 2027.

The GHS tradition has returned and will be taking place on Wednesdays again this school year!

𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿

The IHSA moved the football season up one week to add an additional playoff round, while all other fall sports remain on their traditional schedule. Because of this, Meet the Titans would have taken place during tryout week, before school began, and before many of our high school clubs had resumed activities. As a result, many of our student-athletes, coaches, clubs, and organizations would not have been able to fully participate in Meet the Titans as it was intended.

After listening to feedback from our community, we're excited to introduce a new back-to-school tradition: Titan Town Takeover!

Over the past few years, the importance of community has brought our tight-knit village even closer together. This reimagined weekend celebration will bring together students, families, staff, clubs, businesses, and community members for a weekend filled with Titan pride, fun activities, and opportunities to celebrate the start of another great school year.

2026-27 online registration for K-12 is open now thru July 31, 2026. Registering as soon as possible will help plan bus routes, class schedules and more.

Please note that this is different from kindergarten pre-registration, if you are a parent of a kindergartner, please follow the above online registration steps.

It is also important to note that Skyward will be unavailable for a short period from Friday, July 17, 2026 beginning at 6 PM until 6 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2026 due to annual maintenance scheduled by Skyward.

𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 📖

GHS sophomore Mahi Chanpura achieved the rare and prestigious honor of having her scientific manuscript published in the American Journal of Student Research. Mahi’s research centered on the pathological subtypes and contemporary therapeutic strategies of thyroid cancer.

In addition to her work being published, she presented her research study ‘A Comparison of Therapeutic Strategies for Thyroid Cancer’ live at Polygence’s 13th Symposium of Rising Scholars back in September.

This all stemmed from an enrichment course that Mahi enrolled in prior to her eighth grade year that featured a module exploring thyroid cancer and its treatments. An aspiring oncologist, Mahi dove further into research into the mechanisms by which thyroid cancer operates to help her understand treatment strategies that became her scientific manuscript that was published.
