Office of the Superintendent
Spring is a time for renewal. It is hard to believe that we have almost completed a full school year; particularly with all that we have gone through with COVID19. Together, we have all worked through change, transition, and a variety of other issues related to hybrid, remote and in-person learning. Through it all, we together have persevered to create and support a positive, engaged, and successful learning environment.
This past week we celebrated Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and on May 12 we will recognize National Nurses Day. We celebrate all of our staff, as each plays an important role in the lives of your children and our school community. Although the work everyone does each year is important to recognize, this past year takes the cake!
As we transition into the 2021-2022 school year, I fully anticipate that students will return to the normalcy they experienced in our schools prior to COVID19. The trend we are seeing related to social distancing and related guidance would suggest that Phase 5 will occur in the short term, allowing schools to fully open. That is our expectation, and we will plan accordingly.
During the April Board meeting, four newly-elected Board of Education members were seated (Laura Calderon, Andrea Rediger, Tiffani Saunders, and Ann Stahle). You can find information about them, as well as our three previously seated board members (Kyle Barry, Patrick Phipps, and Steve Bryant) under the “Board of Education/Member Profiles” tab on our website. Congratulations to each new member, and thank you in advance for your time and commitment over these next four years. We also took a moment to recognize William Brewer, Srinivasan Durairaj, Brandon Maddox, and Susan Worley for their years of service to the Ball-Chatham Board of Education and service to our school community.
As mentioned in my opening, Spring is a time for renewal. We are hosting a MASKerade Ball (otherwise known as Prom), our seniors will be graduating at the BOS Center on June 5th, athletic teams and performing arts, and clubs will participate in postseason contests, and we are preparing for end-of-year activities, as well as a great start to the 2021-2022 school year.
I wish you and your family a wonderful summer.
With Titan Pride,
Supt. Dr. Wood
